Karon-Majigi Emergency Education Program

KARON-MAJIGI EEP PROJECT

The Karon-majigi project is the first Emergency Education Program launched by the ARO Foundation. The project was launched at the IDP camp in Karon-majigi, Abuja. The three arms of the ARO EEP are fully operational at the project site. There are a total of 193 children at the karon-majigi ARO EEP program of which 85 children are enrolled in Introductory Learning, 50 children in Level A and 48 children in Level B. All classes are conducted in fully ventilated modern tents, equipped with adequate furniture to facilitate the teaching and the learning process. Classes are conducted during weekdays, beginning at 8:00am and closing at 2:00pm and 1:00pm on Fridays. The ARO Foundation provides the enrolled children with refreshments daily, during recess.

Efficient staff are always available to facilitate the day to day running of the program. The project employs a head of program that ensures the daily operations of the project. The project also employs  teachers responsible for teaching Math’s, English, Basic Science, Information Technology and Introductory Learning classes respectively. Two cleaning staff are charged with the orderly maintenance of the project site and security staff to ensure the safety of staff and children, as well as the project site.

Basic courses are accorded children of the Emergency Education Program. Mathematics, English, Basic science, Information technology and Practical Physical Education are courses taken. AROEEP staff at the Karon-majigi project take the children through physical exercises daily, recognizing that physical health is just as important as mental health.

THE LAUNCH

The ARO foundation kicked off its Emergency Education Program (EEP) on the 20th of September, 2017, at Karon-majigi, Abuja. The launch took place on the project site of the EEP. This was a sensitization program to introduce the foundation and staff to the children as well as their family.

The ceremony featured speeches from the managing director and the ARO foundation’s operations manager, as well as games and dance competitions.

The highlight of the launch was the dance competition organized by the managing director. Several children participated in the competition and prizes were awarded to the best three of the dancers. We served food and refreshment to every parent and child at the event. Pictures commemorating the sensitization event are shown.

LEADERSHIP AND MENTORSHIP DAY

WE ARE NOT SOLELY CONCERNED WITH IMPROVING EDUCATIONAL PROMINENCE BUT BUILDING CHARACTER IS ALSO OUR OBJECTIVE.

Leadership and mentorship is a significant factor in grooming future leaders. Our goal is to build up the characters of children and to spur them to acquire greater heights. Leadership and mentorship day is one of the measures geared towards achieving our goal. It is a weekly initiative conducted at our Emergency Education Program.

Individuals with notable achievements in our society share their journey with the children, serving as inspirations to the heights the children should look to accomplishing.
